the good things that appear in our lives.'

The place close to my heart...Bosnia....

I am extremely proud of where I am from! I was born in Bosnia, in the capital city Sarajevo....My family came to live in London when the war started in 1992....

(In case you don't know anything about the country there is a link here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosnia_and_Herzegovina)

Having to learn to speak English and integrate into English life was a challenge and I will always remember what it felt like to not understand anything going on around me!

I went back for the first time in ten years a few years ago...here are some of the pictures I took of the beautiful landscape....

Sarajevo

The beautiful place we climbed... 'Skakavac' waterfall- meaning 'grasshopper'...

Sarajevo was also the host city for the 1984 Winter Olympics....and although I have not been skiing, it would be a fantastic place to go to in winter!

This was 'Vucko' the best Olympic mascot that has been created....
Old olympic sign, sadly with bullet holes...

When sitting on the ski-lifts I saw the most amazing views....although it was pretty high up!

(I'm in the middle looking scared!)
'Planine'- meaning mountains
One of the most breath taking sights is 'Vrelo Bosna', the spring of the river Bosna...I would highly recommend anyone visiting Croatia to go to Sarajevo and see this amazing, natural place! Now I feel like a tour guide...but it really is special, you don't even need to be good at photography to take these pictures....

Finally on my tour of Eastern Europe...the other wonderous natural sight that I love with all my soul is the Neretva River...the largest river of the eastern part of the 'Adriatic basin'...

Visit if you can..it is one of the most wonderful places on Earth!

  2. I've always always wanted to visit Bosnia. I had a friend who was from Prijedor, he would always tell me stories about his life there and how beautiful the country was. He decided to move back there a few years ago and couldn't be happier! Lovely post and pictures

  3. You should visit! I'm sure you would capture some amazing photos! Lots of tourists go there now and Croatia is also not too far to get to the sea! Neum is still part of Bosnia by the sea....

I'm so happy you like my pics! :) xxx
